New York Giants Week 1 Game Recap and NY Giants NFL Week 2 Odds

It was not a good start to the 2019 NFL regular season for the Giants in Week 1, as the hated Dallas Cowboys gained almost 500 yards of total offense and scored five touchdowns en route to a convincing 35-17 home victory. QB Eli Manning performed admirably in his first game of the post-Odell Beckham Jr. era, throwing for 306 yards and a touchdown against an above average Dallas secondary. TE Evan Engram had a monster game, hauling in 11 catches for 116 yards and one touchdown.

Betting markets reacted almost immediately to New York’s disappointing divisional loss, as the Giants odds of winning the NFC East plummeted to +1700. That certainly wasn’t the only big shift involving Giants team futures – New York also dropped to +560 to make the playoffs after opening at around +500 prior to the start of the preseason. Their season win total over under number shifted downwards as well, as the over on 5.5 total regular season wins is now available at -135.

Saquon Barkley Prop Bets and Eli Manning Prop Bets, Plus NY Giants Odds for NFL Week 2

Not much changed for Eli Manning in the “Most Regular Season Passing Yards” futures market, as his 300 yard performance kept him hovering around +15000 to win the title. Clearly, he remains a significant longshot to even come close to competing for the award and is currently listed at the same price as Joe Flacco, Marcus Mariota, and Mitch Trubisky. Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley is still the favorite to win the “Most Regular Season Rushing Yards” crown at +400 after his 11 carry, 120 yard performance in Week 1. Barkley will need the Giants to find a way to stay more competitive moving forward, as his usage on the ground is significantly lower when New York is trailing by more than 10 points. Still, as long as he keeps posting 100+ rushing yard outings, Barkley is well on his way to beating his 1,307 yard campaign in 2018. However, reigning rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott is lurking just behind Barkley at +500 while Dalvin Cook currently sits in third at +1000.

Things get a little easier when considering the NY Giants odds for NFL Week 2. They play their upstate buddies, the Buffalo Bills, in a bit of a scheduling quirk as that makes it back-to-back weeks where the Bills will be on the road at MetLife Stadium. For their matinee affair, the NY Giants odds have them as the underdogs once again: the NY Giants spread for the game is +1.5 while the NY Giants moneyline for Week 2 is +102. This line reflects the Jekyll and Hyde game the Bills played in Week 1; the Bills stormed back after being down 16-0 to eventually pull out the comeback win against the Jets. When it’s the Giants and the Bills, the best bet is anybody’s guess.
